Spots we frequently visit or Things we do on our spare time:

Old Salty’s-Hoopers Island–True Eastern Shore Cuisine; Fresh seafood with a great view of the Chesapeake. You can often see the Western Shore in the background.

Kool Ice Seafood–One of the best places on the Shore to get fresh Seafood. I find the prices to be reasonable and its some of the freshest. Crabs, any fish you can think of, shrimp, oysters and much more. Friendly and helpful staff.

Thaitalian Infusion Cuisine—Great Pizza and Thai Food. Options of Italian or Thai food when ordering.

Emilys Produce—For quick lunch, snack or dessert. We usually grab a few treats to bring back home or a quick lunch. We also go for the local cheese as our friend makes it.

Bay Country Bakery– We don’t go as often to cut back on the sweets but they have some of the best donuts and pastries on the Eastern Shore.

Blackwater Refuge Wildlife Drive–Bald Eagle and bird Paradise. We pop in regularly to see what’s going on. I don’t think we’ve been and not saw a bald eagle. Great place for wildlife photos. We often hit the trails throughout the area depending on rainfall and mosquitos.

Harriet Tubman Driving Tour–Go to the visitors center for a map. The map will guide you to some historic spots during Harriet Tubman’s days. We like to do this tour when we have visitors.

Road Bike from Cambridge to Hoopers Island- Depending exactly where you start and finish, this ride can be 65 or more miles. Very scenic and one of our favorites. Just use caution as back roads will lack a shoulder.

Kayak Blackwater Water Trails-Go to the Blackwater visitors center for information. Great sights to see and area to kayak.

Snake Head Fishing– An invasive species that has grown in population around blackwater. A lot of fun to fish and good eating.

Drive Deep on the back roads in search of Sika Deer at night–We like to do this when we can’t fall asleep. Your best bet to spot Sika deer (Ghosts of the Swamp) are in the dark (early morning/or late night). If you are able to get up early in the morning, you have a chance of hearing them bugle. We find these creatures to be very majestic.
